Earlier this month, our team had the opportunity to tour Matan’s most recent project—Progress Labs at Riverside 1. Developed to meet the rising real estate demand from the life sciences industry, the project will deliver 215,000 SF of biomanufacturing-ready space in summer 2022 and is currently being marketed to prospective tenants.
Downtown Hotel Project Secures Key Funding
On February 17, The City of Frederick’s Board of Alderman unanimously approved to accept $2.52 million from Frederick County government to assist in the purchase of the future site of the downtown hotel and conference. Proposed as a full-service Marriott branded hotel, the project will serve as an economic anchor along Carroll Creek - providing new downtown lodging options, stimulating local spending, and attracting future private investment to the area.

GROW in Frederick: A Look at the City's Small Business Microgrant Program
Last July, the City’s GROW Grant program guidelines were updated to provide opportunities to a wider range of businesses for the coming fiscal year. Since the program’s refresh, two businesses — ODIN Crossfit and Gravel & Grind — have been able to take advantage of the program, and a third project in process. Historic Preservation Property Tax Credit Applications Open
The City of Frederick is accepting applications for the City Historic Preservation Property Tax Credit until April 1, 2022. Tax paying property owners may apply for a credit equal to 25 percent of the properly documented expenditures incurred during 2021 for exterior work that contributes to the restoration or preservation of a structure designated by the City of Frederick as a Historic Preservation Overlay zone.
