Megamart
Construction is currently underway for a new 13,390 square foot grocery store on Western Drive. The incoming market - Megamart - has an international theme and will offer a variety of foods & ingredients not offered elsewhere in the area.

2. SMH Auto Sales
Building renovations have begun for the expansion project by SMH Auto Sales at the site of the former Barbara Fritchie restaurant. The company anticipates hiring 10 additional employees as a result of the expansion to the second site along Baltimore National Pike.
The iconic candy cane is slated to remain intact on the property.

3. West Park Village
Located just off the Golden Mile, West Park Village is slated to be developed with 285 town houses and detached houses, three commercial lots, a park, and open space. The homes, developed by Integrity Homes, will start in the low $200,000’s and range in price for different units. Developer Buchanan Partners will also have adjacent commercial pad sites available soon.

4. District 40
Last month Warehouse Cinemas was announced as a tenant at the formerly vacant Frederick Towne Mall located at 1301 W Patrick Street. Re-branded as ‘District 40,’ the strategic property is now envisioned to become an premier entertainment destination for the region. Complimenting the latest announcement, work on the Taj Mahal - a new Indian restaurant in the former Ground Round location - continues to progress.

5. Pollo Campero
Pollo Campero - a fast, casual restaurant featuring Central American fare - opened its doors in August. Formerly the site of Boston Market, the building received significant renovations & exterior improvements. Pollo Camperos’ project was the second largest renovation assisted by the Golden Mile Alliance’s Facade Improvement Program to date.

6. Big Lots
Taking the space of the former Toys R Us location, Big Lots opened its doors along Route 40 in June of this year. The newly re-tenanted retail space is over 45,000 square feet.

7. Asian American Center of Frederick
The Asian American Center of Frederick - a non-profit that provides support services to immigrants of all backgrounds - has opened a second location at 1306 West Patrick Street. The organization was able to take advantage of the Golden Mile Alliance’s facade grant program while creating new signage.

8. Wendy’s
Wendy’s is nearing the completion of its rebuild project at 1201 W Patrick Street. The new building will feature a double drive-through — increasing the efficiency of the drive-through experience. The site will also offer an outdoor seating area with bike racks.
9. Centro Hispano De Frederick
With caseload tripling in 2019, Centro Hispano de Frederick was in need of a new, more efficient space. This fall, the non-profit celebrated the grand opening of its new location at Willowtree Plaza, off Willowdale Drive.

10. Mi Pueblo
The center at 1170 West Patrick Street has gained a new tenant — with the recent soft opening of Mi Pueblo, an international grocery store. A formal ribbon cutting ceremony will take place December 15th.

11. Burger King
The Burger King at 1003 West Patrick Street is currently being rebuilt from ground up. Replacing the original structure constructed in 1972, the new Burger King building will feature an enhanced facade, new landscaping, and improved access through the drive-thru lane.
12. Easterns Automotive
Easterns Automotive is currently renovating the former Holiday Cinemas space on Baughmans Lane. The automotive company, which has applied for Enterprise Zone certification, anticipates hiring 25- 30 employees and looks to open soon.

13. Butterfly Ridge Road Re-alignment
In June, the City of Frederick officially broke ground on a new transportation improvement project designed to alleviate a bottleneck at MD 180 and support the development of Westside Regional Park.
The project will feature the construction of approximately 2,000 linear feet of a four lane urban minor arterial roadway extension of Himes Avenue, approximately 1,925 linear feet of a new two lane, open section local road (Contender Way), a roundabout with associated roadway improvements to Himes Avenue, one new parking lot, Lot C north of Contender Way, for the future Westside Regional Park with Parking Lots B & D as future options, and base widening of approximately 1,800 linear feet of a portion of existing Butterfly Lane.
