This month, we've taken a different approach to the definition of "office"; Use your creativity and imagine a fitness business along Carroll Creek as that office. For the owners and employees of Cyclefit, this is true everyday.
1. Why did you choose your current office location and how long has Cycle Fit been located here?
We wanted to be close to the creek and in the historic district. We love the atmosphere that the Carroll Creek area provides and it has become a great mix of commercial, residential, and social residents. There is nothing better than walking along the creek to relieve some stress (other than taking a CycleFit class of course!!).
2. Was CycleFit 'move in' ready or did you have to design/fit it out?
The space is located at the street level in the City-owned All Saints Parking Garage. We had to do a complete build-out as the space was a cold shell --sitting empty for close to ten years. It didn’t have a concrete base, it was all gravel! But to us, that was exciting as we were able to build out the interior to what we wanted to bring to Frederick, to our employees, and to our clients, without having to modify someone else’s work.
3. What inspirations did you use to decorate/design the space?
We used colors and an open air feel that inspires someone’s passion to be better every day. One of the owners, Chris Kraimer, oversaw every detail from the color scheme, the light fixtures, the flooring, and - after extensive researching - planning and budgeting. Everything in our space is hand picked and intentionally there, even down to the amenities in the locker rooms. The majority of our work was done by local contractors. We even had a local high-school student build our three vanities in the locker rooms as part of his wood-working project!
4. What are the most unique aspects about your office space?
We used the industrial structures in the ceilings to create an open feel throughout the facility. The flow and experience was very important in each of our rooms, enhanced by the lighting and color schemes. We even have a signature scent flowing throughout our office. Our clients tell us we even make the parking garage smell nice!
5. Tell us why you like having an un-traditional office vs one with 4 walls.
We are in the fitness industry and would like to inspire others to become better. We wanted our staff to be working in an enviroment that was energizing. With the tons of light that pours into our studio, and our high celings, its hard not to be positive when walking through our doors. We think we have accomplished the goals we set out!
