Maryland’s Small Business Development Center, SCORE Mentors, and the Maryland Womens Business Center provide support to local entrepreneurs and small businesses.
In addition to providing free individual consultation, the organizations host comprehensive training programs with most classes at low to no cost.
The City of Frederick recently cut the ribbon celebrating a collaboration with Blink Charging for the installation of 20 new IQ 200 chargers across four downtown parking garages.
The new initiative will help accommodate both residents & visitors with electric vehicles by providing convenient charging options during downtown visits. The infrastructure improvement also strategically supports the City’s sustainability goals.
The Department of Economic Development’s GROW Grant Program is designed to encourage and financially-support small businesses making strategic improvements to commercial buildings within The City of Frederick.
This fiscal year, ten small businesses were supported by the program. Together, these GROW Grant awards supported a total private investment of just under 5 million dollars!
It’s been nearly two years already since Mr. Gary and Dr. Denise Rollins cut the ribbon on the new Rollins Life Celebration Center. The joyful day marked the end of years of work to relocate their operations from its historic location on South Street to a newly constructed and custom designed facility along Catoctin Avenue.
We recently had the opportunity to stop by the beautiful center and hear their thoughts as they looked back on the experience of undertaking a major business expansion.
Tax-paying property owners may apply for a credit equal to 25% of the properly documented expenditures incurred during 2023 for exterior work that contributes to the restoration or preservation of a structure designated by the City of Frederick as a Historic Preservation Overlay zone.

Complementing the existing services provided by the popular Parkmobile App, the City's Parking Department is pleased to also announce the launch of its new "Park Frederick" app. The new app will allow residents and visitors to check real-time parking availability in select Downtown Frederick garages.
